Ben Van Heuvelen

I’m the managing editor of Iraq Oil Report and a contributor to the Washington Post and Foreign Policy.

My freelance work has also appeared in The Atlantic online, Salon, and Killing the Buddha. Sometimes the good folks of CNN, Al-Jazeera English, and NPR have me as a guest to talk about Iraq.

I write about Iraq, oil, and the geopolitics of energy; American foreign policy, politics and culture; and religion.

I used to work at the New America Foundation as a research fellow. Before that, I taught high school English at the National Cathedral School in Washington, DC.
